Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR) has planned to market its indigenously developed products through private sector. The Council has entered into an agreement and appointed a local marketing company, A Z Scientific Products, for promotion, marketing, selling and distribution of PCSIR's developed laboratory equipment in Karachi and Lahore.

The PCSIR has developed 28 different equipment and instruments which include heating system products, pH and conduction system products, refrigeration and incubator system products, electrophoresis system and water deionizer system products.

The potential usage areas of such equipment are pharmaceutical, textile, pathology, dyeing industry, laboratories etc.

Introduction of these systems would help in saving foreign exchange and would pave the way for establishing locally manufactured industrial equipments.

At present, these products are being imported from United States, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Korea and India, burdening national exchequer.

However, the prices of equipments developed by the Council are 25 to 50 percent cheaper than similar imported products.

The users of these equipments face problems regarding after-sale services, non-availability of parts and technical expertise.

The PCSIR will provide low-cost and high-quality products with the assurance of after-sale service, availability of parts and expertise of PCSIR engineers.

Under the agreement, the company would advertise these products but PCSIR would bear the cost.

The PCSIR has agreed to take full responsibility of equipments during warranty period in which it would provide free of cost repair, change of parts or replacement of products in case of extraordinary problems or defects. The Council would allow the customers to visit PCSIR display centres for their satisfaction.
